Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO), a fertilizer cooperative, partnered with Novonesis, a global leader in biological solutions, to transform Indian agriculture by improving crop yields and enhancing soil health through sustainable farming methods.
The two organizations have formalized their collaboration with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focusing on the development and introduction of advanced bio-solutions for Indian farmers. The partnership’s first offering will be KRIBHCO rhizosuper, a mycorrhizal biofertilizer that leverages Novonesis’ proprietary LCO (Lipo-chitooligosaccharides) Promoter Technology.
In the initial phase, KRIBHCO rhizosuper will be made available to farmers across India. The innovative product combines a specialized blend of endomycorrhizal species with LCO technology, accelerating the colonization of mycorrhiza, stimulating microbial activity in the root zone, and enhancing both plant growth and soil quality.
The biofertilizer also optimizes the efficiency of phosphatic fertilizers, water, and other nutrients, complementing KRIBHCO’s long-established role as a major supplier of agricultural inputs in India.
LCO, a crucial signalling molecule, enhances communication between plants and soil microbes, significantly boosting nutrient uptake and overall plant health.
Given the current challenges in Indian agriculture, such as declining soil carbon levels, inefficient fertilizer practices, and unpredictable climate conditions, LCO technology offers a promising solution to improve crop growth and resilience.
