Honeywell Automation India Ltd. (HAIL) successfully deployed a micro-grid battery energy storage system (BESS) in India as part of the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) project for the Lakshadweep Islands.

Honeywell provided its micro-grid controller and energy management system (EMS), along with a power plant controller, to regulate the distribution of renewable energy. The solution also includes several BESS sub-systems.

The initiative is notable for being the first non-containerised BESS approved by SECI and features the integration of advanced EMS technology with LEDA’s Distributed Generation Microgrid. Honeywell delivered this comprehensive solution to SunSource Energy, a solar energy firm working under contract with SECI.

As reported by projectstoday.com, Honeywell’s BESS technology offers a complete solution that ensures automation, safety, and efficiency, while also enabling remote operation for battery modules and grid management systems.
