LICO Materials and Sanvaru Technology announced strategic partnership focused on recycling battery materials and promoting sustainable practices within the electric mobility sector.

Sanvaru will provide end-of-life lithium-ion batteries for recycling, and LICO will recover essential minerals to return to battery manufacturers. The collaboration aims to reduce India’s dependence on foreign energy sources and minimize the need for imports.

LICO operates an advanced recycling and refurbishment plant for end-of-life lithium-ion batteries in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, with a capacity of 4 GWh annually. Another facility is under construction in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Sanvaru will supply 450 MWh of battery capacity over the next three years. The initiative aligns with the Indian government’s goal of reducing emissions to Net Zero by 2070.

Gaurav Dolwani, Founder and CEO of LICO Materials, stated that the partnership paves the way for a circular economy for batteries, which both companies envision.

As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, Sanvaru Technology’s Managing Director, A K Shukla, described the collaboration as a significant step towards environmental sustainability and advancing closed-loop systems to manage Earth’s resources, contributing to a greener future.
