Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is focusing on expanding its green energy initiatives and leveraging technology for sustainable development, according to Chairman and Managing Director S N Subrahmanyan. He highlighted that L&T had recognized the significance of digitalization back in 2016 and now utilizes a wide range of technologies across its different sectors.
L&T is on the verge of fully integrating advanced technologies such as cutting-edge sensors, embedded software, and robotics. Last year, L&T revealed plans to invest $12 billion over the next five years, with one-third of this amount dedicated to green energy projects.
As part of the initiative, L&T will allocate at least $2 billion to its inaugural green hydrogen project. The company aims to achieve a green hydrogen and ammonia production capacity of 2-3 million tons, which will involve nearly $4 billion in investments.
As reported by msn.com, Subrahmanyan stated that generative artificial intelligence has been transformative for L&T, enhancing various processes throughout the project life cycle. To advance its internal generative AI capabilities, L&T has launched a collaborative platform that brings together data scientists with domain and technology experts.
