Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has played a pivotal role in both supporting the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and contributing to India’s space missions. L&T’s involvement in missions like Chandrayaan, Aditya-L1, and Gaganyaan has been significant.
For the Chandrayaan mission, L&T’s expertise shone as they manufactured crucial equipment essential for the mission’s success. L&T crafted booster segments, head end and middle segments, and a 3.2-meter diameter nozzle bucket flange. Additionally, the company produced ground and flight umbilical plates, deck panels, and hardware systems vital to Chandrayaan’s achievements.

L&T’s partnership with ISRO spans over a fifty-year period, marked by their involvement in manufacturing launch vehicle components for the SLV 3. AT Ramchandani, Executive Vice President and Head of L&T Defence, emphasized the need to build space capabilities, which has been a cornerstone of L&T’s collaboration with ISRO. The contributions have extended to solid boosters, launch vehicle integration, orbiter module integration, tracking radars, antenna mechanisms, flight hardware, and ground support equipment.
As reported by Sabhi Yojana, L&T’s engagement with ISRO isn’t confined to the past; it extends into the future with significant commitments to upcoming missions. In collaboration with ISRO, L&T is actively involved in the Aditya-L1 and Gaganyaan missions, covering various aspects of these projects. With a manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, L&T is producing critical components such as heat shields and rocket hardware for PSLV launch missions. The brands involvement in the ambitious Gaganyaan mission, including human spaceflight, encompasses creating flight-rated hardware, working on a crew module and crew escape systems, and other integral contributions.
