Luminous Power Technologies, a leading energy solutions provider in India, has expanded its manufacturing capabilities with a production unit for lead acid batteries in North India.
Located at the SIDCUL Industrial Estate in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, the facility spans eight acres and strategically serves a growing customer base.
The plant will significantly increase the company’s production capacity, catering to both domestic and export markets.

Luminous has designed the Haridwar plant to meet global sustainability standards.
The facility features 3,036 solar panels and generates 1MW of solar power. This makes it the second-largest industrial solar rooftop installation in Uttarakhand.

Industry-First Innovations in Battery Production
The plant introduces advancements in battery manufacturing.
It is the first in the industry to implement green positive plate production using 100% grey oxide through the wet paste filling process for industrial batteries.
Additionally, the facility features an advanced acid circulation system and an automatic battery assembly line that operates at twice the speed of conventional lines.
The innovations improve water efficiency and enable high-speed battery charging.
Smart Factory Interface and Automation
Luminous has equipped the facility with smart technology for seamless operations.
A real-time monitoring system tracks finished goods, while a digital dashboard displays live production data.
The plant also includes a specialized learning center called DOJO, designed to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
Enhancing Production Capacity and Research
The Haridwar facility will produce 1.5–2GWh of power backup solutions annually.
It incorporates a LEAN layout and automation to ensure consistent product quality and faster production cycles.
Furthermore, the site houses an advanced lead acid and alternative chemistry laboratory to drive research and development in sustainable energy solutions.
