Maruti Suzuki India launched a pilot facility for biogas production and purification at its Manesar, Haryana plant. The pilot project is designed to generate 0.2 tons of biogas daily, which is anticipated to cut around 190 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
The refined biogas will be utilized for cooking in the canteen and for various production processes, while the byproduct will be employed as organic fertilizer for the company’s internal gardening needs. The facility produces biogas from Napier grass, a perennial grass from the Poaceae family, which is grown on-site at the Manesar facility.
As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, the company has committed to investing ₹450 crore over the next three years in renewable energy initiatives.
