The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has initiated the assessment of technical proposals for the production-linked incentives (PLI) aimed at fostering the production of ten gigawatt-hours (GWh) of Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC). Dr. Hanif Qureshi, additional secretary in the ministry of heavy industries, confirmed the progression.
Dr. Qureshi mentioned that the technical proposals were unveiled in April 2023, with seven prominent Indian entities competing for the opportunity to establish indigenous capacity for manufacturing Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) totalling ten GWh.
The seven distinguished firms in the realm of zero-emission technologies participating in the competitive bidding process comprise ACME Cleantech Solutions, Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies, Anvi Power Industries, JSW Neo Energy, Reliance Industries, Lucas TVS, and Waaree Energies.
As reported by ManufacturingToday, the endeavour follows the issuance of a Request for Proposal (RFP) by the Indian government on January 24, 2024. The RFP aimed to establish ACC manufacturing facilities with a collective capacity of tn GWh, with a maximum budgetary allocation of ₹3,620 crore. The proposals were invited in response to a global tender for the re-bidding of Production Linked Incentives (PLI) focused on the production of ten GWh of ACC.
