MNRE Clarifies ALMM Order Deadline Extension for Solar Photovoltaic Projects

The ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) has issued a clarification concerning the approved models and manufacturers for solar photovoltaic modules as stipulated in the solar photovoltaic modules (requirements for compulsory registration) order, 2019.

According to an official memorandum, the order is applicable to projects with a final bid submission date on or after April 10, 2021. The objective of the directive is to ensure that solar PV cells and modules used in government and government supported projects adhere to high standards of quality and reliability, thereby securing long-term energy security.

The ALMM order specifies that only models and manufacturers listed and approved under this order can be used in such projects. To enforce compliance, the MNRE has established mechanisms that include the capability to audit and inspect manufacturing facilities. Manufacturers found to be non-compliant risk being removed from the approved list.

As reported by ETEnergyworld.com, the clarification is part of MNRE’s ongoing efforts to refine and strengthen regulations in the solar energy sector, guaranteeing that all installations comply with essential quality standards for sustainable energy development.
