The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has extended an open invitation for proposals aimed at approving innovative designs and materials for small biogas plants, capable of generating between 1 to 25 cubic meters of biogas per day. Interested parties, including developers, manufacturers, organizations, universities, research institutions, and industry players involved in small biogas plant manufacturing and development, are encouraged to submit their proposals.

The ministry seeks proposals for designs that are simple, efficient, and cost-effective, demonstrating significant improvements over existing approved designs. Emphasis is placed on the use of construction materials like HDPE/PVC/LDPE or other economical alternatives that are durable, sustainable, and eco-friendly.

Applicants should demonstrate capability in anaerobic fermentation, able to operate under normal solid contents or high concentrations, processing various wastes such as cattle dung, organic/biomass waste, and waste from toilets, kitchens, and decentralized locations.

Proposals will undergo thorough review, analysis, and evaluation by the MNRE. Promising technologies and biogas plant designs identified through laboratory and field assessments may be included in the list of approved models under the Biogas Programme, making them eligible for benefits. As reported by ETEnergyworld.com, interested parties must adhere to the prescribed format available on the MNRE website and submit their proposals by April 2, 2024.
