Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) appointed Mundkur S Kamath as Managing Director (MD), following approval from the ministry of petroleum and natural gas. Kamath, who previously served as the Executive Director since 2022, will be the full-time MD until his superannuation date on November 30, 2027, or until further notice, whichever occurs earlier. He assumes his new responsibilities with immediate effect, succeeding the outgoing MD, Sanjay Varma.
A statement released by the board of directors mentioned, “The board of directors has appointed Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath as an Additional Director designated as Managing Director on the board of the company, replacing Sanjay Varma in compliance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013. Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath has assumed the role of Managing Director effective from 28/02/2024”.
Sanjay Varma, who took on the role of MD in June 2023, has concluded his tenure. As reported by people matters, Kamath’s association with MRPL dates back to 1992, during which he has held various leadership positions, showcasing his dedication and experience over the past three decades.
