NRL Signs Agreement with IWAI for Petroleum Products Transportation

In order to transport its petroleum products to Bangladesh and beyond through IWAI’s renovated jetty in Jogighopa, lower Assam, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) have signed an agreement. Subrata Das, Chief General Manager, Marketing, NRL, and A Selva Kumar, Director, IWAI, signed the papers.

At an approved cost of more than ₹28,000 crore, NRL is now working on a project to expand its refinery from 3.0 to 9.0 MMTPA. The project is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2025. The construction of a petrochemical factory at a cost of ₹7,231 crore has commenced under the supervision of NRL. As reported by PSUWATCH, once the new refinery and petrochemicals plant is commissioned, NRL plans to export 200 TMT of products annually to Bangladesh via IWAI’s jetty in Jogighopa, including diesel, gasoline, solvent, and polypropylene.
