NTPC Announces Tender for Battery Energy Storage System

NTPC Limited released a request for proposals to set up standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a total capacity of 250 MW/500 MWh at its thermal power plants in Godarwara and Solapur. The deadline for submitting bids is July 18, 2024.

Eligible bidders must have prior experience in manufacturing and supplying batteries for grid-connected BESS with a capacity of at least 40 MW, including at least one system of 10 MW or more. The referenced BESS must have been operational for a minimum of six months before the bid opening date.

System integrators of grid-connected BESS projects that meet these criteria are also invited to bid. Indian bidders are required to have a technical collaboration agreement, a manufacturing license, or a joint venture with a battery manufacturer. They must provide a technical collaboration agreement with the battery manufacturer that remains valid through the end of the operation and maintenance period.

Additionally, bidders should have completed an industrial project in the power, steel, oil and gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, cement, coal mining, or any other process industry within the last decade, with each project valued at ₹1.65 billion or more.

Furthermore, they must have completed at least one electrical substation project with a voltage level of 33 kV or higher, incorporating equipment like circuit breakers and power transformers of 33 kV or higher voltage. As reported by RenewableWatch, both the industrial project and the substation should have been successfully operational for at least one year before the bid opening date.
