Ohmium International, specializing in green hydrogen technology, has been selected by the ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) as a recipient of the SIGHT incentive program award.
The company, known for designing, manufacturing, and deploying advanced proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, was granted support for up to 137 MW of capacity in the program’s Tranche II, based on the superior performance of its electrolyzers. Ohmium was the only PEM electrolyzer manufacturer to receive this accolade.
Arne Ballantine, CEO, Ohmium stated, “The recognition underscores our team’s unwavering dedication to excellence and our commitment to driving decarbonization efforts in India and globally”.
The achievement builds on Ohmium’s earlier success in Tranche I of the SIGHT program. Administered by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), the tenders aim to encourage the development of 1.5 GW of domestic electrolyzer manufacturing capacity, in line with India’s sustainability objectives.
“India’s green hydrogen ambitions are significant, and this program plays a key role in positioning the country as a global energy leader. The funds will accelerate the expansion of our Gigafactory in Bangalore and support the establishment of future local manufacturing facilities,” added Ballantine.
He further emphasized the potential of Ohmium’s PEM electrolyzer solutions, particularly for industries like refineries and ammonia plants seeking decarbonization options. “With the SIGHT incentives and our hyper-modular PEM electrolyzers, which are designed for outdoor installation and vertical stacking to minimize land use and costs, we offer a compelling solution,” Ballantine mentioned.
Ohmium is a PEM electrolyzer provider in India, collaborating with industry giants such as NTPC and Tata Projects. As reported by timestech.in, the brand has a green hydrogen project pipeline exceeding two GW across four continents, serving a wide array of sectors including energy, transportation, steel production, and heavy industry.
