Oil India Targets 180,000 BPD Capacity for Numaligarh Refinery by 2027

Oil India Ltd aims to operate its refinery in Assam at an increased capacity of 1,80,000 barrels per day (bpd) by the fiscal year ending in March 2027. The company plans to import around 1,10,000 bpd of crude oil for processing at the upgraded facility.

Additionally, Oil India is also planning to invest ₹250 billion rupees by 2030 across a range of projects, including ventures in clean energy. Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a subsidiary of Oil India, is constructing a biorefinery that will produce 50,000 tons of ethanol per year using bamboo as a raw material. Ethanol production at the Assam-based biorefinery is expected to commence by the end of September.

NRL not only supplies fuel to North Eastern India, but also exports diesel to Bangladesh via a pipeline with a capacity of one million tons per year. As reported by msn.com, Oil India holds stakes in two upstream Russian projects, Vankorneft and Tass-Yuryakh.
