During His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to Belgium, Oman and Belgium signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to reinforce their cooperation in the green hydrogen sector.

The agreement, made between Hydrogen Oman (Hydrom) and the Belgian Hydrogen Council (BHC), sets the stage for enhanced collaboration on hydrogen production, infrastructure, transportation, and utilization.

Advancing the Global Hydrogen Economy

The MoU underscores the commitment of both countries to driving the global hydrogen economy forward.

Oman, with its abundant renewable energy resources, is well-positioned to become a leading hub for green hydrogen production.

Meanwhile, Belgium’s role as a major hydrogen industrial hub in Europe strengthens the partnership.

Together, both nations aim to enhance energy security and create a seamless global hydrogen supply chain.

Building on Strong Bilateral Relations

The agreement is a continuation of the decades-long strong relationship between Oman and Belgium, particularly in the green energy sector.

As the first step in the MoU, both parties will focus on knowledge sharing, technology development, and the planning of hydrogen production and shipping infrastructure.

Oman’s Leadership in Hydrogen Innovation

Under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Oman continues to focus on green hydrogen as a key element of its future energy strategy.

As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, the partnership with Belgium will further position Oman as a global leader in hydrogen innovation, driving sustainable energy solutions and creating opportunities for research and development in the hydrogen industry.
