Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) are both in the process of seeking international partners to collaborate on their plans to build greenfield petroleum refineries.

The projects, estimated to cost between ₹70,000 crore and ₹1 lakh crore, involve the construction of oil refineries with a capacity of twelve million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) each.

While ONGC is considering locations such as Gujarat or Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh for its refinery, BPCL has opted for Andhra Pradesh. As reported by indiainfoline.com, this would be ONGC’s first venture into establishing an oil refinery. Engineers India Limited (EIL) is conducting a pre-feasibility study for both projects.
