ONGC collaborates with EverEnviro Resource Management Pvt. Ltd., developer of compressed biogas in India, to establish a joint venture aimed at setting up ten compressed biogas (CBG) plants across India. The two companies have formalized this initiative by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The initial phase of plant development is designed to decrease India’s dependence on imported gas and boost the production of domestic renewable energy.

The 50:50 joint venture between ONGC and EverEnviro supports the Government’s initiatives, such as the global bio-fuels alliance and the target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.

By utilizing various feedstocks, including agricultural waste, agro-industrial waste, energy crops, and municipal solid waste (MSW), the collaboration aims to reduce approximately 7,50,000 tons of CO2 equivalent annually.

EverEnviro planning to establish over 100 CBG plants across India, using diverse feedstocks such as MSW, agricultural waste, and agro-industrial waste.

As reported by Global Flow Control, currently, the organization is executing over twenty CBG projects in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Punjab, with a substantial capital investment of nearly ₹2,000 crore. The projects are expected to produce a significant output of 320 metric tons of CBG per day.
