Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is advancing its efforts to boost domestic natural gas production with plans to establish mini-LNG plants across India. The facilities will be located in five regions, including Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gujarat.
The mini-plants will transform stranded natural gas into liquefied natural gas (LNG) by cooling it to 160°C. The LNG will then be transported using cryogenic trucks to nearby pipelines, where it will be reverted to its gaseous form for distribution.
This will help meet the energy demands of power plants, fertilizer manufacturers, and city gas providers. As reported by devdiscourse.com, ONGC’s initiative tackles the issue of stranded gas from wells not connected to pipelines and highlights the company’s commitment to enhancing India’s energy security by reducing its dependence on imports through increased local production.
