Perstorp, a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), received a platinum medal for being among the top one percent of companies assessed for sustainability by EcoVadis. Perstorp progressed in all four assessed areas compared to the previous year; environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
“It is encouraging to see that our systematic approach to sustainability, where we have set corporate sustainability 2030 targets with actionable roadmaps to reach them, is showing results. With focus, dedication, and a large portion of courage, it is possible to overcome the chemical industry’s sustainability challenges,” Anna Berggren Vice President Sustainability commented.
Since its founding in 2007, EcoVadis has grown to become one of the world’s largest and most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings, creating a global network of more than 1,30,000 rated companies.
As per the press release, the EcoVadis sustainability assessment methodology is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of sustainability/CSR into their business and management system. The methodology is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000, covering 220+ spend categories and 180+ countries.
“EcoVadis today is the standard for ESG ratings within the chemical industry and is also the selected partner for sustainability assessments for Together for Sustainability. The fact that we’ve received more than 100 inquiries from customers seeking our EcoVadis reporting in recent years shows the value it brings to the value chain. Innovation and sustainable transformation are deeply rooted in our culture as well as in our strategy and mission to support our value chains as the sustainable solutions provider by driving the transition of the chemical industry”, added Anna Berggren.
