Malaysian Refining Company Sdn Bhd, a Petronas subsidiary, renamed its Melaka refinery complex to Melaka Energy Park in celebration of the company’s 30th anniversary. The company announced its intention to enhance its capacity to meet the increasing demand for cleaner, safer, and more efficient energy solutions.

The development underscores its role as a major entity in both the local and international energy sectors, serving a wide range of industries such as aviation, manufacturing, and consumer markets. According to Ahmad Adly Alias, Chairman, Malaysia Refining, the organization’s dedication to high standards has inspired ongoing efforts to diversify the types of petroleum products it offers, extending its reach beyond local consumption.

Melaka Energy Park plays a crucial role by supplying sixty percent of the petroleum product needs of Peninsular Malaysia and manages a production output of 3,00,000 barrels each day. The facility is outfitted with multiple specialized units capable of processing a variety of crude oil types, from light sweet crudes to denser imported varieties.

As reported by NEWSTRAITSTIMES, the facility’s newest unit, the Delima plant, which started operations in 2021, is focused on producing Euro-5 standard diesel. This type of diesel has a reduced sulphur level, which leads to lower emissions of harmful substances, offering a more environmentally friendly fuel option.
