On December 27, 2023, PLL formalised key documents including a sub-concession agreement, sub-lease deed, and port service agreement with Gopalpur Ports.

The proposed project involves the construction of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) based LNG terminal with an initial capacity of approximately four million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) in phase one. Additionally, provisions have been made for the potential conversion into a five mmtpa land-based terminal at Gopalpur Port in Odisha.

As reported by OFFSHORE ENERGY, Petronet LNG Limited is also operating Dahej and Kochi LNG terminals. The Dahej LNG terminal curently boasts a capacity of 17.5 mmtpa, undergoing expansion to 22.5 mmtpa in two phases. With six LNG storage tanks and other vaporisation facilities, the Dahej terminal plays a crucial role in fulfilling around forty percent of India’s total gas demand.
