Pondy Oxides and Chemicals Ltd., a player in the recycling industry, is finalizing the first phase of its state-of-the-art lead smelter plant in Thervoykandigai near Chennai.
The cutting-edge facility, the first fully automated lead smelter in India, will enhance the company’s production capacity by 36,000 tons per annum (MTPA).
They have scheduled the trial production to begin in early March 2025.
Once fully operational, the plant’s total capacity will reach 72,000 MTPA. This will significantly boost Pondy Oxides’ overall lead production from 1,32,000 MTPA to an impressive 204,000 MTPA.
Strategic Investments and Funding
Pondy Oxides has invested ₹70 crore in capital expenditure during the first nine months of FY25 to support the project’s development.
The company raised ₹175 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). The company will use this funding to finance working capital needs and future expansion initiatives.
