Power Grid Partners with Volks Energie for Sustainable Energy Storage

In a ground-breaking move toward sustainability, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has awarded Volks Energie a strategic project to revolutionize energy storage.

Volks Energie is a leading provider of solar energy, HVAC, and energy storage solutions. The company will help Power Grid transition from traditional VRLA/Lead-Acid batteries to more reliable and eco-friendly Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries.

Advancing Energy Storage with Ni-Cd Technology

The partnership aims to modernize India’s energy infrastructure. Nickel-Cadmium batteries offer three times the lifespan of conventional Lead-Acid batteries. They extend battery life from 5-7 years to over 20 years. This shift not only reduces hazardous waste but also optimizes operational costs.

Moreover, Ni-Cd batteries provide superior reliability and resilience, performing effectively in extreme climatic conditions. Unlike VRLA batteries, which are prone to sudden failure, Ni-Cd batteries ensure consistent performance and long-term stability.

Strengthening India’s Power Infrastructure

Power Grid operates a vast network of over 600 substations across India, playing a crucial role in maintaining smooth power transmission.

By collaborating with Volks Energie, Power Grid reinforces its commitment to adopting advanced, sustainable technologies. This initiative aligns with India’s broader goal of reducing environmental hazards and promoting long-term sustainability.

Leadership Commitment to a Greener Future

Piyush Goyal, Co-Founder and CEO, Volks Energie stated, “We are thrilled and honored to partner with Power Grid and contribute to India’s transition toward sustainable energy. At Volks Energie, we are dedicated to providing clean energy solutions, and this project is a significant step in that direction. We aim to support Power Grid’s sustainability goals through optimized operations and excellent execution. This will help India achieve long-term, eco-friendly growth.”

Deployment Across Key Regions

Volks Energie has already begun deploying its advanced Ni-Cd battery systems in Kargil, Dehradun, and Ambala. The company excels in managing complex projects across diverse terrains and extreme climates. This expertise positions it as a key player in India’s clean energy transformation.

As per the press release, India is accelerating its journey toward sustainable energy. Collaborations like this will play a vital role in shaping a cleaner, more resilient future.
