Premier Energies’ subsidiaries have bagged substantial orders for the supply of solar cells and modules, amounting to ₹1460 crore.
This comes as part of the company’s continued efforts to expand its solar energy footprint.
Order Details and Timeline
The orders, which include both solar modules and solar cells, come from two large Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and other clients.
The total ₹1460 crore allocates ₹1041 crore for solar modules and ₹419 crore for solar cells.
The company has set the timeline for delivery, with the supply of these modules scheduled to begin in May 2025.
Involved Subsidiaries
The following subsidiaries of Premier Energies have bagged the contracts:
- Premier Energies Global Environment Private Limited
- Premier Energies International Private Limited
- Premier Energies Photovoltaic Private Limited
The subsidiaries have successfully secured the multiple orders, underscoring the company’s growing influence in the renewable energy market.
ALMM Policy and Impact on Solar Production
The development comes on the heels of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) proposal to include solar cell production under the ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufacturers).
The move is similar to the existing ALMM for solar modules.
As reported by saurenergy.com, the earlier implementation of the ALMM for solar modules successfully acted as a non-tariff barrier, aiming to protect the domestic solar module industry by curbing the influx of inexpensive Chinese solar modules.
Bengaluru Bio-Innovation Centre Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Labs
A fire broke out at the Galore Tx laboratory within the Bangalore Bio-Incubation Center (BBC) in Bengaluru, causing extensive damage to both the lab and the facility.
The incident occurred due to improper handling of flammable solvents, despite prior warnings to all firms housed at the BBC.
Warnings Ignored Lead to Catastrophic Damage
Authorities at the BBC had previously instructed all startups to avoid storing or using large quantities of inflammable chemicals in their labs.
To ensure safety, the facility had even provided a separate open storage area for such materials. However, these precautions were not followed, leading to the devastating fire.
Second Floor Completely Gutted
The fire caused severe destruction on the second floor, which had recently been renovated to accommodate more startups.
The damage extended to the first and ground floors, primarily due to the interconnected heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The HVAC lines acted as conduits, spreading the fire and smoke throughout the building.
Startups Face Heavy Losses
The startups on the second floor bore the brunt of the fire.
Many sustained substantial losses, including damage to specialised equipment, consumables, and intellectual property (IP).
The resources were critical to their operations and development, making the impact of the fire devastating for their progress.
About the Bangalore Bio-Incubation Center
As reported by msn.com, located in Bengaluru’s Electronic City, the BBC is a government of Karnataka initiative aimed at fostering innovation in biotechnology.
The incident has highlighted the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
