RE Technologies, in association with Senvion India, introduced the 4.2M160 wind turbine generator, marking a significant advancement in wind energy technology. The 4 MW turbine, developed collaboratively by engineering teams from Germany and India, integrates cutting-edge control systems and self-optimizing features. Its ability to adjust to varying environmental conditions maximizes energy output, demonstrating a leap forward in efficiency.
The 4.2M160 turbine boasts a 160 meter rotor and a 140-meter hub height, making it the first of its kind from RE Technologies and Senvion Group. Its 78.5-meter blade, specifically designed for low wind conditions, is built upon the proven DFIG (doubly fed induction generator) technology.
The turbine is fully adaptable to the grid code compliance requirements in India and other global markets and will be certified under IEC RE OD 501. The 4.2M160 offers enhanced durability and reliability by reducing stress from challenging environmental conditions, all while maintaining stable power output.
As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, the advanced control system allows for optimal performance even in low-wind environments, protecting against excessive loads and ensuring long-term efficiency.
Moreover, the turbine’s design enables operation in harsh conditions like extreme temperatures, sand, or dust, making it highly versatile for different markets. Its scalable modular design offers custom solutions that bring certainty to business cases.
Amit Kansal, CEO of Senvion India, informed that the turbine’s engineering meets global client expectations, delivering both reliability and high performance, even in challenging conditions.
Jamal Wadi, Managing Director of RE Technologies, noted that through an exclusive licensing agreement with Senvion India, the company’s fully localized value chain will help drive optimized power generation at the lowest operational costs.
