Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has commenced pilot programs for its solar and battery energy storage projects in Jamnagar, ahead of its planned production of 9.6 GW solar modules later this year. The conglomerate is constructing an extensive giga complex covering 5,000 acres for its new energy division, with an investment exceeding $10 billion.

The expansive green energy ecosystem will feature integrated solar modules, battery storage systems, and renewable energy feeding into modular electrolysers. The electrolysers will produce green hydrogen, which will then be converted into electricity via fuel cells.

The company has strategically acquired assets worth approximately $1.5 billion to support the entire value chain. In January, Reliance secured a 74,750 hectare land agreement with the Gujarat government for green hydrogen production.

In April, it obtained six plots from the Deendayal Port Authority to establish facilities for green hydrogen and green ammonia production. Additionally, in April, Reliance participated in the rebidding for the Production-Linked Incentives (PLI) scheme for 10 GWh advanced chemistry cells (ACC).

As reported by projectstoday.com, the company previously won PLI incentives for 5 GWh of ACC storage in 2022, and has also received PLIs for solar module production.
