Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is poised for a new phase of expansion with the goal of becoming the leading developer of renewable energy projects in India. Operating one of the world’s largest refining complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat, Reliance announced a $10 billion investment in 2021 to enhance its green energy portfolio and reach its target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2035.
The company plans to establish 100 GW of renewable energy installations by 2030 and will commence the production of ingots and wafers – essential components for low-cost solar cells and modules at its 10 GW solar photovoltaic (PV) giga factory in Jamnagar by December.
Reliance aims to double the PV factory’s capacity by 2026 and intends to collaborate with international partners to acquire advanced technologies in the new energy sector.
As reported by reuters.com, this includes developing comprehensive integrated renewable energy manufacturing facilities, with projects focusing on green hydrogen, green chemicals, and energy storage.
