Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is poised to start production at its first solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing facility in Jamnagar, Gujarat, within the current fiscal year. This marks a significant step in the company’s ambitious plan to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2035.
Fully Integrated Solar Manufacturing Hub
The Jamnagar facility will fully integrate manufacturing by covering the entire solar PV value chain, from polysilicon to finished modules. This includes the production of ingots, wafers, cells, and glass. The initial phase aims to deliver 10 GW of solar module capacity annually, with a target to double output to 20 GW in later phases.
Expanding Clean Energy Capabilities
Beyond solar manufacturing, Reliance is also making strides in battery and micro power electronics. The company expects these facilities to begin operations next year, further strengthening its clean energy ecosystem.
Aligning with India’s Renewable Energy Targets
The initiative supports India’s national objective of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030. Starting June 2026, the government will require all clean energy projects to use domestically produced solar PV modules—making Reliance’s investment especially timely and impactful.
Driving India’s Energy Transition
Reliance’s bold move into renewable infrastructure reflects its strategic pivot toward sustainable energy solutions. As the country pushes for energy independence and environmental resilience, Reliance is positioning itself as a key enabler of India’s green energy transition.
