Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) announced that the first of its new energy gigafactories is on track to begin producing solar photovoltaic (PV) modules by the end of 2024.
The gigafactory is a key component of RIL’s broader push towards sustainability and renewable energy. RIL is expanding its renewable energy portfolio to include solar energy, energy storage systems, green hydrogen, bio-energy, and wind energy.
“Our new energy business, with its diverse range of renewable solutions such as solar, energy storage, green hydrogen, bio-energy, and wind, is set to play a major role in the global clean energy transition,” informed Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of RIL.
Solar panels produced at RIL’s Jamnagar facility have already secured BIS certification. Over the next five to seven years, the company expects the green energy segment to emerge as a major growth driver, potentially outpacing its other business divisions.
As reported by cnbctv18.com, RIL plans to establish a domestic supply chain to enhance self-reliance and decrease its dependence on imports.
