ReNew to Invest in Green Hydrogen Project in Kerala

ReNew, a firm dedicated to decarbonisation initiatives, intends to invest an estimated ₹26,400 crore in establishing a green hydrogen project in Kerala, with a production capacity of approximately 220 Kilo tons per annum (KTPA). The project will be situated near the Vizhinjam Port in Kerala to facilitate the export of the green hydrogen produced.

The green hydrogen facility will undergo development in three phases. Phase I will have a capacity to produce 100 KTPA of green hydrogen derivative, while phases II and III will each have a capacity of 500 KTPA. The green hydrogen will serve as the primary ingredient for producing 1,100 KTPA of green ammonia, powered by a 2GW capacity electrolysis system. The project aims to be completed within 36-42 months from commencement.

As reported by biltrax media, ReNew aims to contribute to India’s national green hydrogen mission, which aims to establish a five MTPA green hydrogen production capacity by 2030, thereby fostering the export of green hydrogen and its derivatives.
