Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), which contributes 30% of India’s gas output, announced plans to drill four new wells in the satellite and R-Clusters at KG-D6 to boost natural gas production.

The company, which produced an average of about 27 million standard cubic meters per day (MSCMD) from its three KG-D6 clusters in FY24, anticipates an additional recovery of approximately 240 billion cubic feet (BCF) of natural gas, considered a key fuel for energy transition.

In terms of exploration, RIL mentioned that Block KGUDWHP-2018/1 (KG-UDW1) was granted to the RIL-bp joint venture during the OALP II licensing round, with the petroleum exploration license issued in August 2019.

As reported by thehindubusinessline.com, currently, RIL is extracting coal bed methane (CBM) from its SP (West)–CBM–2001/1 block, where over 300 wells are currently operational, yielding an average of 0.64 MSCMD of gas for the year.
