Röhm has successfully commenced production at its new Bay City, Texas, plant, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history. The facility is the first to implement Röhm’s proprietary C2-based LiMA technology on a large industrial scale.

Dr. Hans Bohnen, CEO, Röhm said, “The start of production in Bay City represents a major step forward, enabling us to deliver next-generation MMA using our innovative LiMA technology. This breakthrough not only benefits the environment but also strengthens supply security in this expanding market,”. He also acknowledged the crucial role of partners and suppliers in bringing this advanced technology to market.

Increased Production Capacity and Sustainable Benefits

Once fully operational, the Bay City plant will produce 2,50,000 metric tons of MMA annually. Unlike traditional production methods, Röhm’s LiMA technology relies on ethylene, natural gas, and methanol as raw materials. This approach offers several key advantages, including:

*Higher product yield

*Lower energy consumption

*Reduced water usage and waste generation

These efficiencies make Röhm’s production process more sustainable while meeting the growing demand for MMA in the U.S. and beyond.

Strategic Investment in a Growing Market

Ron Ayles, Managing Partner, Advent International stated, “At Advent, we focus on developing and growing innovative, world-class businesses. Our investment in Röhm supports the expansion of sustainable, high-quality MMA production in the U.S., which currently faces a supply shortage”.

With this new facility, Röhm becomes the only C2-based MMA producer in the U.S., securing a competitive advantage in the market. “We have invested at the right time in the right place and look forward to further strengthening Röhm’s position as the global leader in methacrylate technology,” Ayles added.

Strong Market Demand and Future Growth Prospects

Customers have already shown strong interest in MMA produced through Röhm’s proprietary C2 process. The Bay City plant is strategically positioned to serve both domestic and global markets.

“Demand is exceeding our initial expectations,” Bohnen noted. “In the coming weeks, we will steadily ramp up production rates. Additionally, we are already exploring further growth opportunities to expand our business.”

As per the press release, with its state-of-the-art LiMA technology, Röhm is setting a new industry standard, ensuring sustainable and efficient MMA production for years to come.
