Röhm Shanghai has successfully achieved ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) PLUS certification for its methyl methacrylate (MMA), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), and methacrylate resin products at its production site in Shanghai, China.

Additionally, Röhm Chemical (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is now certified as an ISCC PLUS trading and storage operator.

The certification enables Röhm to deliver a wide range of sustainable products to local customers under its well-known brands, including MERACRYL®, PLEXIGLAS®, DEGALAN®, and DEGAROUTE®.

Expanding the proTerra Product Line

Building on its commitment to sustainability, Röhm already offers a diverse portfolio of low-carbon products under the proTerra brand.

The sustainable solutions are made using either recycled PMMA and MMA or ISCC PLUS-certified raw materials.

What is ISCC PLUS?

The ISCC PLUS certifies the sustainable production and use of renewable or recycled raw materials internationally.

Manufacturers produce products certified under ISCC PLUS using standard processes, and they determine the sustainable content through mass balance principles.

Sustainable raw materials carefully trace throughout the entire value chain, ensuring transparency in production.

Commitment to Sustainability in Asia

Röhm’s President of Asia, Benjamin Ling stated, “ISCC PLUS certification marks a milestone on our roadmap to sustainability in Asia. From now on, we can support customers in China and across Asia with products derived from sustainable resources, without compromising product quality or requiring changes to their processes”.

Shanghai Leads Röhm’s Global Efforts

The Shanghai site is Röhm’s first facility outside of Germany to receive ISCC PLUS certification.

Previously, the company achieved this certification at its production sites in Worms and Wesseling, Germany.

Aligned with the ‘Track 2030’ Program

The milestone certification aligns with Röhm’s broader sustainability goals under its ‘Track 2030’ sustainability program.

As per the press release, by continually enhancing its sustainability initiatives, Röhm reinforces its dedication to reducing carbon footprints and driving innovation in sustainable materials across global markets.
