SABIC and Pashupati Collaborate to Develop Recycling Opportunities in India

SABIC, and Pashupati Group, a leading recycler of plastic waste and supplier of high-quality recycled products in India have collaborated. Together, both companies will work at developing local recycling opportunities in India, while expanding SABIC’s global network of qualified recycling partners.

The partnership with Pashupati Group marks the second that SABIC has had with a recycler in Asia, as the brand continues to work with Malaysia-based plastic recycling company HHI, to recover mixed and used ocean-bound plastic.

As per the press release, Malaysia partner HHI will take the recovered material and convert the used plastic into pyrolysis oil through an advanced recycling process. The pyrolysis oil will be then used by SABIC in the production process as an alternative to traditional fossil materials to make new certified circular polymers.

Both parties will develop methods and add value in processing using virgin polyolefin and recycled polyolefin, to both compounded and non-compounded finished products. The materials can then be used to make recycled products, including a portfolio of recycled, circular polymers under SABIC’s TRUCIRCLE™.

SABIC is also working with Pashupati Group on an advanced recycling project to convert used plastic into pyrolysis oil, which SABIC will then be able to use in the production of certified circular polymers with the same performance properties as virgin plastics.
