Samsung E&A, a global total solutions provider for the energy industry, has been appointed as the main contractor for Emirates Biotech ’s upcoming polylactic acid (PLA) production plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Officially named the Falcon PLA Project, the facility will produce a biodegradable, eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastics – supporting Emirates Biotech’s strong commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship.

Comprehensive EPC Scope

As the sole partner, Samsung E&A will lead all engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities for the project. The company was chosen for its unmatched track record in successfully executing large-scale, complex industrial developments. The collaboration ensures that the Falcon PLA Project will stay on schedule and within budget.

Emirates Biotech signed the pre-EPC contract on April 14, 2025, at its head office in the UAE, marking the official start of the project’s execution phase.

Seamless Technology Integration

Emirates Biotech has also selected Sulzer as the technology provider for the PLA facility. Samsung E&A will play a critical role in integrating Sulzer’s proprietary systems into the plant design. This ensures seamless coordination between engineering and process technology.

Strategic Location in Abu Dhabi

They will construct the plant in the KEZAD free zone in Abu Dhabi. This industrial hub offers advanced infrastructure and direct access to Khalifa Port, supporting efficient logistics and global distribution. Emirates Biotech expects the facility to begin operations in early 2028.
