Schneider Electric Unveils EcoStruxure for Indian Pharma Sector

Schneider Electric launched EcoStruxure for life sciences, a software solution aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in the pharmaceutical sector, advancing towards Pharma 4.0.

The IoT-enabled solution leverages digital technologies to cut up to 70% of carbon emissions through automation, fostering smart facilities, sustainable manufacturing, and efficient supply chains. It supports water conservation, process electrification, the use of green electricity, reduction of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and promotes circularity.

Arvind Kakru, Vice President of Industrial Automation at Schneider Electric India, emphasized that EcoStruxure for Life Sciences offers a significant opportunity for the pharmaceutical sector to achieve India’s climate goals by adopting sustainable practices.

EcoStruxure for Life Sciences facilitates real-time water tracking and on-site treatment to monitor usage and ensure compliance. It optimizes energy distribution and integrates renewables, embedding sustainability in every design step to streamline processes and reduce waste. The solution assists in sourcing green electricity through renewables and offers consulting solutions for decarbonization and energy management to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

The initiative also focuses on sourcing circular materials and managing waste efficiently to promote circularity. It aims to track and reduce indirect emissions (Scope 3) using data and digital tools, transforming the pharmaceutical sector towards a sustainable and efficient future.

Additionally, the AVEVA PI System provides advanced data management for deeper insights and improved efficiency, while collaborative robots enhance efficiency and productivity in sterile environments.
