SECI Invites Proposals for setting up Green Hydrogen Hubs

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) announced a call for proposals to establish green hydrogen hubs in the country as part of the national green hydrogen mission. The proposal invites the selection of an executing agency to construct two hydrogen hubs, with the deadline for bid submission set for October 7, 2024.

Interested bidders are required to pay a non-refundable document fee of ₹50,000 plus GST, along with a tender management fee of ₹4,50,000 per application.

SECI will offer central financial assistance (CFA) of up to ₹1 billion for the development of two green hydrogen hubs, each with a capacity of 1,00,000 metric tons per annum (MTPA). The project must be completed by March 31, 2026; however, a grace period of six months is available. If the project is delayed beyond this period, a penalty of up to 0.5% of the CFA will be imposed.

The tender also encompasses the development of storage and transportation facilities for green hydrogen and its derivatives, the enhancement or creation of pipeline infrastructure, the establishment of green hydrogen vehicle refueling stations, and the adoption of hydrogen compression and/or liquefaction technologies.

In August 2024, SECI issued a tender for the development of 2,000 MW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar projects, including integrated storage facilities. As reported by renewablewatch.in, in July 2024, SECI released a request for proposals to identify green hydrogen producers for developing manufacturing facilities under Component II (Mode 1, Tranche II) of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program.
