Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals, L&T Energy, AM Green Ammonia, and Waaree Clean Energy Solutions are among the nine companies that have won tenders for green hydrogen project under the second tranche of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme. The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) issued Letters of Award (LoA) to these firms, selecting them from fourteen bidders.

Production Capacities and Financial Incentives
L&T Energy, Green Infra Renewable Energy Farms, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions, and AM Green Ammonia secured the highest annual production capacity of 90,000 metric tons each. Meanwhile, Reliance Green Hydrogen won a 49,000 metric tons per year capacity.
A total incentive of ₹2,238.59 crore has been allocated under this tranche, including:

Massive Investment Potential
The ministry of new and renewable energy invited bids for 4,50,000 tons per annum of green hydrogen capacity under this round. Industry analysts estimate that setting up a 1,00,000 ton green hydrogen project requires an investment of ₹18,000-₹20,000 crore. Based on these estimates, the awarded projects could drive investments of approximately ₹80,000 crore.

India’s private sector is making rapid progress in renewable energy, particularly in green hydrogen production. Under Tranche-II guidelines, the project categories were:
*Bucket-I (Technology-Agnostic Pathways): Minimum 10,000 tons per year, maximum 90,000 tons per year
*Bucket-II (Biomass-Based Pathways): Minimum 500 tons per year, maximum 4,000 tons per year
A single bidder could be allocated up to 90,000 tons per year, and successful bidders can establish multiple projects to meet their allotted capacity after receiving the Letter of Award.

India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission
Launched in 2023, the National Green Hydrogen Mission has a budget of ₹19,744 crore until 2029-30 to promote domestic green hydrogen production. This includes:
*₹17,490 crore for the SIGHT programme
*₹1,466 crore for pilot projects
*₹400 crore for R&D
*₹388 crore for other initiatives
