Sembcorp to Supply Green Ammonia from India Plant

Sembcorp Green Hydrogen, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, entered into a Heads of Terms (HoT) agreement with Japanese firms Sojitz Corporation and Kyushu Electric Power Company for the supply of green ammonia from its planned facility in India.

The India plant, which has secured the necessary land, is moving forward with front-end engineering design following the completion of a feasibility study. Sembcorp, as the lead developer and operator, aims to produce 2,00,000 tons per annum (tpa) of green ammonia using renewable energy sources.

The initiative highlights a collaborative effort between Japan, Singapore, and India to establish a low-carbon supply chain and advance the region’s transition to a clean economy. As reported by Projects Today, the consortium agreement to explore green ammonia production in India was initially signed by the three companies in December 2023.
