Shakti Pumps (India) Receives fourteenth Patent

Shakti Pumps (India) received a patent from the patent office, government of India, for the invention titled ‘Method and apparatus for soft start, soft stop, protection and brown out operation of a grid-connected motor’. The patent, in accordance with the provisions outlined in the Patents Act of 1970, is valid for a duration of twenty years from the filing date. This is the company’s fourteenth secured patent.

The patented technology introduces several significant advantages for both motor and grid electrical systems. Through a gradual increase in motor speed, the soft starter effectively reduces mechanical stress on the motor and associated equipment, thereby prolonging the motor’s operational lifespan and diminishing maintenance expenses.

It facilitates a smooth and controlled initiation, negating the abrupt torque and mechanical jolt typical of conventional starting methods, which is especially advantageous for delicate equipment.

Furthermore, it bolsters the reliability of power electronic circuits by supplying input boost, thus mitigating the risks associated with voltage surges. Particularly in pump applications, it assists in averting water hammer and mechanical disturbances in piping systems. As reported by MoneyWorks4Me, Shakti Pumps (India) manufactures a diverse array of submersible pumps and motors tailored to various applications.
