Shree Cement is planning to participate in the government’s initiative to secure critical minerals production by bidding for lithium mining rights. The company plans to apply for mining blocks in Jammu and Kashmir, where approximately 5.9 million tons of lithium deposits have been identified.

Additionally, the company intends to bid for blocks in Chhattisgarh, marking its first foray into the mining sector. To ensure expertise in this venture, the company has reached out to Australian mining professionals for guidance.

As reported by ThePrint, Shree Cement is also seeking expert advice to assess the quality and grades of lithium reserves in Jammu and Kashmir. If successful in acquiring a lithium block in the region, the company aims to collaborate with an Australian counterpart for technical support in establishing a refinery.
