Splitwaters, supplier of advanced electrolyzers and an EPC contractor in the green hydrogen and eFuel sectors, announced partnership with Destiny Energy, a Singapore-based company. Splitwaters will handle the engineering design for a groundbreaking eMethanol facility in Europe, which is expected to have an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons.

The facility will utilize renewable energy sources alongside state-of-the-art electrolyzers to produce green hydrogen. The hydrogen will then be combined with captured CO2 to synthesize eMethanol, a sustainable fuel gaining popularity in the shipping industry due to its environmental benefits.

To maximize efficiency, the plant’s design will emphasize operational simplicity, high availability, high conversion efficiency, and reduced energy consumption. Splitwaters plans to adopt a modular construction approach, which will significantly reduce the amount of on-site construction work.

The strategy not only minimizes the risks associated with traditional construction techniques but also ensures easier installation and maintenance, enhancing both reliability and operational efficiency.

Vijay Sirse, Founder and CEO of Destiny Energy stated, “We are deeply committed to advancing green hydrogen and methanol production in the Baltic, Nordic regions, and Southeast Asia. We are thrilled to partner with Splitwaters for this design work, given their holistic approach, which includes both green hydrogen and methanol production. Modular solutions are critical to our success, helping us deliver projects on time and within budget”. Sirse added that Destiny Energy is planning multiple green methanol projects globally as part of its dedication to the energy transition.

Deepak Bawa, CEO, Splitwaters added, “We are excited about this eMethanol project and appreciate Destiny Energy’s trust in our engineering expertise”. As reported by hydrocarbonprocessing.com, the partnership underscores Splitwaters’ dedication to providing effective solutions that minimize capital expenditures (CAPEX) while enhancing output.
