SWC Grants Preliminary Approval for Renewable Energy Projects in Odisha

A Single Window Committee (SWC) granted preliminary approval for renewable energy investment proposals amounting to ₹4671.81 crore in Odisha. During its seventh meeting, chaired by Hemant Sharma, the energy department’s principal secretary, the SWC gave the go-ahead for 749.5 MW of renewable energy initiatives.

These include a 600 MW pumped storage plant (PSP) by OHPC in Kalahandi district, and three wind power projects with a combined capacity of 148.5 MW by ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited, set to be developed in the districts of Nabarangpur, Khordha, and Jagatsinghpur. Additionally, a 1.4 MW rooftop solar project is planned for Bhubaneswar.

The energy department reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to accelerating the development of renewable energy projects in the state. To date, the SWC has approved proposals totalling ₹8,395.38 crore, with a combined capacity of 1,249.38 MW in the renewable energy sector.
