Symrise has forged a joint venture with Virchow Group, a pharmaceutical actives manufacturer based in Andhra Pradesh, to establish a dedicated facility for producing personal care ingredients in India. Named Vizag Care Ingredients, the venture is headquartered in Visakhapatnam and includes a local chemical manufacturing site. Operations are scheduled to commence by the end of June.
With majority ownership by Symrise, the German company, Vizag Care Ingredients will benefit from Symrise’s global sales network for the promotion and distribution of its products. Notably, this marks Symrise’s first chemical manufacturing site outside Europe and the Americas.
Vizag Care Ingredients plans to expand its Visakhapatnam facility to accommodate the production of a significant volume of beauty ingredients, catering to the APAC region and beyond. Symrise anticipates that the strategic move will enhance its position as a leading provider of premium personal care solutions, encompassing multifunctional product protection ingredients, high-performance actives and botanicals, and cutting-edge UV filters.
