Takeda Pharmaceutical announced plans to hire 750 professionals, primarily in the emerging technology sector, during the calendar year 2025 (CY25).
The announcement coincided with the launch of its Innovation Capability Centre (ICC) in Bengaluru, marking the company’s first ICC in Asia.
Focus on R&D and Digital Health Solutions
The Bengaluru facility will drive Takeda’s research and development (R&D) efforts and digital health solutions.
With this move, the company aims to transition into a fully digital biopharmaceutical enterprise within the next 3 to 5 years.
Why Bengaluru?
“India was a natural choice for Takeda’s first ICC in Asia, and we chose Bengaluru specifically for the talent,” stated Tilak Banerjee, Head of Takeda ICC – India.
Karnataka’s state GCC policy, which offers significant incentives to companies establishing operations in the region, further solidified Bengaluru as the ideal location.
Global Impact of Bengaluru Facility
Takeda has collaborated with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Salesforce, and SAP for advanced technological solutions.
The work conducted at the Bengaluru ICC will directly support the company’s operations in its global markets, enhancing efficiency and innovation.
Takeda’s Longstanding Presence in India
The company’s journey in India began with a commercial facility in Gurgaon, operational since 2003.
Takeda has also maintained a partnership with Zydus under Zydus Takeda Healthcare Private Limited since 1999.
Additionally, in recent years, the company has collaborated with leading Indian pharmaceutical companies like Sun Pharma, Cipla, Lupin, and Abbott India for drug development and distribution.
As reported by deccanherald.com, by strategically leveraging India’s talent pool and technology ecosystem, Takeda Pharmaceutical is positioning itself as a leader in digital transformation within the biopharmaceutical industry.
