Tecnimont, a part of MAIRE’s Integrated E&C Solutions business unit, has signed a deal with ADNOC for the onshore processing plant of the Hail and Ghasha development project. This significant award was finalized during ADIPEC, the world’s largest energy summit.

The Hail and Ghasha project has a key objective of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions. This goal will be facilitated, in part, by the inclusion of CO2 carbon capture and recovery units within the facility, which will enable the capture and storage of CO2 emissions.

The overall contract value for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) is approximately $8.7 billion, with the project anticipated to be completed by 2028. The scope of work encompasses two gas processing units, three sulfur recovery sections, associated utilities and offsite facilities, as well as export pipelines.

Tecnimont will also harness the expertise of MAIRE’s sustainable technology solutions division to develop innovative digital solutions focused on reducing emissions and optimizing energy consumption. This approach will lead to enhanced operational and capital cost efficiency for the plant.

The engineering and procurement tasks will be carried out by dedicated teams across Europe, India, and the United Arab Emirates, all under the central coordination of MAIRE’s headquarters in Milan. In particular, MAIRE’s UAE procurement hub will play a crucial role in maximizing the involvement of local suppliers, with the goal of providing significant value to the local economy.

The press release stated that MAIRE has been actively engaged in the UAE since the late 1990s, with several strategically important projects in the country, amounting to an approximate total value of $17 billion. This journey began with the completion of the first polyolefin plant in 2001, known as Borouge 1. Furthermore, the group possesses a distinguished track record and extensive experience in delivering large-scale gas treatment plants and sulfur recovery projects.
