The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Matunga, is establishing a new campus in the Khidkali area of Thane, with the Maharashtra state cabinet granting forty acres of land to the institute to enhance educational quality.
The proposed campus will house a centre for translational research, marking ICT’s fourth location in the country, alongside its existing campuses in Jalna and Bhubaneshwar.
Vice-Chancellor Aniruddha Pandit informed that the facility would focus on scaling research to industry levels, a challenge faced by the current Matunga campus due to space constraints.
“We conduct research at three levels, but there is insufficient land to extend this to industrial applications. Additionally, we will establish a skilling centre to train specialists as we develop new technologies,” said Pandit. As reported by timesofindia.indiatimes.com, the Thane campus will also offer various short and long term courses in chemical sciences.
