The supervisory board of thyssenkrupp nucera Management AG has unanimously resolved to extend the CEO contract of Dr. Werner Ponikwar by five years, ensuring his continued leadership until July 2030.
Dr. Ponikwar has played a crucial role in transforming thyssenkrupp nucera into a key player in the hydrogen market.
Under his guidance, the company successfully completed its IPO in July 2023 and strengthened its position in the fast-evolving hydrogen sector.
His strategic vision and commitment to innovation have been pivotal to the company’s growth, and the Supervisory Board looks forward to continuing their fruitful collaboration.
Dr. Volkmar Dinstuhl, Chairman of the Supervisory Board stated, “Werner Ponikwar has been driving the development of thyssenkrupp nucera as a strong player in the hydrogen market. His leadership has been vital for the company’s success, and we are eager to continue working together”.
New CFO Appointment: Dr. Stefan Hahn
In addition to extending Dr. Ponikwar’s contract, the supervisory board appointed Dr. Stefan Hahn as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective March 1, 2025.
Dr. Hahn will succeed Dr. Arno Pfannschmidt, who will reach the age limit of 65 during his extended term.
Dr. Hahn brings extensive experience from thyssenkrupp AG, where he has held various senior positions, including interim CFO for the Polysius Business Unit and Head of Controlling, Accounting, and Risk for Decarbon Technologies.
He has also served as CFO for the Automation Engineering Business Unit.

Transition in the Role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Thyssenkrupp nucera also announced a change in the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Fulvio Federico has informed the Supervisory Board of his decision to step down for personal reasons.
The supervisory board has already initiated an orderly succession process for the CTO role. During the transition phase, Federico will continue to advise the company and ensure a smooth handover.

His work was instrumental in shaping the company’s strategy and growth, and he played a key role in taking thyssenkrupp nucera from a Group entity to a profitable, fast-growing standalone business”.

The Supervisory Board also expressed sincere appreciation for Dr. Arno Pfannschmidt’s leadership as CFO.
His contributions were integral to the company’s success in recent years, guiding thyssenkrupp nucera through its transition to a publicly listed company and solidifying its place as a technology leader in the hydrogen sector.
