Topsoe, a global frontrunner in advanced technologies driving the energy transition, has secured a spot on Corporate Knights’ inaugural list of the 25 most sustainable private corporations in the World. Ranked 18th, Topsoe stands out among privately held companies with over $1 billion in revenue and transparent greenhouse gas reporting.
Recognized for Impact in Energy Transition
Corporate Knights, a sustainability research and media firm, assessed companies based on their 2023 performance. Key evaluation criteria included the share of revenue and investments in energy transition technologies, among other sustainability metrics.
Topsoe’s inclusion highlights its ongoing shift toward cleaner solutions and its role in accelerating the global transition to low-carbon energy sources.
Strong Growth in Clean Energy Solutions
Since 2020, Topsoe has significantly expanded its clean-tech portfolio. Revenue from low-carbon, renewable fuels, and e-fuels technologies surged from 6% in 2020 to an impressive 23% in 2024.
This transformation reflects Topsoe’s commitment to sustainability, supported by consistent investments in innovation. In 2024 alone, the company allocated DKK 745 million to research and development—most of it directed toward energy transition technologies.
Net-Zero Targets and Recognitions
Topsoe is not only innovating for others—it’s transforming itself. The company has set ambitious net-zero goals across scopes 1, 2, and 3, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2023. These targets underline Topsoe’s holistic approach to decarbonization throughout its value chain.
Amy Chiang, Chief Sustainability and External Affairs Officer, stated, “We’re very proud to be listed on Corporate Knights’ top 25 ranking. This recognizes our efforts to scale technology and solutions for clean fuel production. It also reflects our determination to meet ambitious net-zero targets.”
Global ESG Recognition
Topsoe’s efforts are gaining broad international attention. In addition to the Corporate Knights listing, the company received a gold rating from EcoVadis for its ESG performance. As per the press release, further cementing its leadership, CEO Roeland Baan was named among Forbes’ 50 Sustainability Leaders in 2024.
